Espace Jean-Paul II

This area is a gathering, celebration, built after the visit of Pope John Paul II came here as a pilgrim September 20, 1996.

It is made exactly 16,129 blocks offered by the pilgrims. It is surrounded by 12 granite columns, recalling that these are the twelve bishops of the twelve dioceses of the ecclesiastical region of western France who invited the Pope to come to this region: Angers, Bayeux, Coutances, Laval, Le Mans, Luzon, Nantes, Quimper, Rennes, St. Brieuc, Sees, Vannes.Une figure stele bearing the image of John Paul II.

A graph is drawn on the pavement. It represents a globe, a cross, a fish: the globe is the whole world to whom Christ came to bring good news, the cross, which crosses the earth, reminds us that it is in his blood that Christ saved the world, the fish goes back to the early days of the Church, it is a sign of recognition of the early Christians.

John Paul II himself did not come here, he celebrated Mass at the house Keranna, Brech on the road, west of the church where a plaque recalls the afternoon and of September 20, 1996, he gathered young families at the memorial.

Watching this space built in the countryside, recalling the visit of the most famous of the pilgrims of Saint Anne, pray for the Church gathered around the Pope, successor of Peter and the bishops successors of the apostles.

"Peter, you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church. "Jesus said to the first apostles. It is with this song was received that John Paul II at St. Anne d'Auray. The Church here has gathered around the Successor of Peter and sang his faith and hope, in the words of the Pope himself: "Feel the hope, put your trust in the God who made a covenant with men in the person of His Son Jesus! A traditional representation of St. Anne shows us by reading the Bible to her daughter Mary. This is an invitation to receive the word of God, to be impregnated to testify in the human realities. Open your hearts to Christ, His word tells you the way to go to his Father ... ... Today, Christ is calling you to carry this message of hope .... I wish you great hope and now I must tell you that I found here a lot of hope. "
